About Teck
Teck is a leading Canadian resource company that is focused on responsibly producing the metals essential for global development and the energy transition. We are committed to responsible mining and mineral development, productive community relationships, and inclusive development in the regions where we work.
Regional Contributions
Proceeding with the HVC Mine Life Extension Project (HVC MLE) would mean an estimated US$1.3 billion to $1.4 billion capital investment and is expected to create about 2,900 jobs during the construction phase of the project.
HVC MLE would allow for the continuation of social and economic benefits of the mine, including supporting an average of 1,500 direct jobs and an average $490 million in annual GDP, and produce 1.95 million tonnes of copper over the life of the mine. HVC MLE would also allow HVC to continue to collaborate with Indigenous Governments and Organizations to deliver economic and social contributions, and advance reconciliation efforts.
More information on the additional economic contributions are outlined in the revisedApplication filed with the Environmental Assessment Office in B.C. in June, 2024.
